This is the thing happening with btech NON IT students.It is reasonable that you sacrifice four years of sweat to get into a software thing ,(i am talking about NON IT students).But it makes no sense to do the same thing after completing ms in non IT field.People from india are moving to do ms in non IT stream and are ending up doing IT jobs (because they get IT jobs easily).Dude you are wasting not just one or two lakhs but about 20 lakhs and your valuable time for doing MS.
I accept that you can still make a lot of money over there by shifting to IT job but still the MS course you have done is getting wasted.So unless you have that burning sensation in your stomach to learn some non IT subject in depth,do not opt for MS.If your goal is to earn a lot of money you have another option ,that is , do a decent job in some IT company in india for about 2 years and then apply for a foreign job which is quite difficult because of the stern visa procedure adopted.By doing so, you are not wasting your time and money on some MS course(non IT)rather earning tonnes of experience and money in the IT field.There is one more option for MS,you can shift to computer science dept .
